What GEO Does

GEO’s priority engagement areas include the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement, the Saidai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the New Urban Agenda, focusing on sustainable development, climate actions, disaster risk reduction and urban resilience. GEO also works across eight societal benefit areas, including biodiversity and ecosystem sustainability, disaster resilience, energy and mineral resource management, food security and sustainable agriculture, public health surveillance, infrastructure and transport management, sustainable urban development, water resources management. GEO Strategic Plans are approved and released for every ten years, and GEO Work Programs are established for every three years, in order to support better policy making, decisions and action across many disciplines, through EO data sharing, knowledge service and work program activities application.
